The TALON-SD is an integrally suppressed upper receiver for the Colt 635 9mm M16 submachine gun. As with the older Gemtech-designed Mirage suppressor assembly, the TALON-SD quickly replaces the upper receiver of the Colt 635 9mm M16 to provide ulitmate suppressed performance for critical tactical situations. Unlike most integrally suppressed submachine guns, the five inch unported barrel delivers full terminal ballistics expected from the 9mm cartridge utilizing the popular 147 grain projectiles. Unported barrels cannot clog and are not failure prone. Built on a correct, Picatinny spec “flat-top” 9mm upper receiver with half-door and ejector buffer, the TALON-SD permits use of optical sights for precision shooting, including the ever popular red-dot type sights and night vision optical devices. The bare upper receiver is available as an accessory item. The TALON-SD is designed for field stripping for cleaning without the use of tools. Additionally, field-stripping and reassembly does not affect the point of impact or necessitate re-sighting the weapon prior to use. The TALON-SD utilizes the bolt from the customer’s Colt 635 9mm submachine gun. The TALON-SD may be used on semi-auto weapons only if they are registered as a short-barreled rifle.
